Emyr Evans and sister Tesni Evans, pictured here with Matt Hilliker, took the main titles in the 1st ever Denbighshire Leisure Open held at Prestatyn Leisure Centre last week.

There were 40 competitors and 70+ matches over a busy weekend in an event sponsored by Denbighshire Leisure and was part of the Stars Squash programme in partnership with Denbighshire Leisure. In the mixed A grade Emyr Evans WR175 and Welsh Mens No3 defeated sister Tesni Evans Welsh Ladies No1 and WR27 in a gruelling 90mins encounter just edging home 3-1 (11/9 11/9 5/11 14/12). Tesni though picked up the Ladies title with a 3-0 win over Hannah Davies.

The Mens B title was taken by young Welsh International Ryan Lewis of Llanfyllin who defeated Kev Morgan coach at Newtown 3-0 and earlier Ryan had defeated No1 seed and favourite Mark Davies from Brymbo. The Mens C event was won by Pete Townsend of Neston who defeated the star of the event 9 year old Jamie Silvester of Prestatyn 3-1 in a tight final. Jamie took out the Nos 2 and 3 seeds on his way to the final.
