The world’s top squash players will compete for the first PSA Platinum title of the season as the 2019 U.S. Open Squash Championships get underway on Saturday in Philadelphia.

The Championships are one of eight prestigious Platinum events to take place over the 2019-20 PSA World Tour season, and this year’s tournament sees prize money increase to a record total of $371,000, split equally between the men's and women's draws.

Reigning champions Mohamed ElShorbagy and Raneem El Welily, who return to defend their crowns, will be joined by Karakal stars Tom Richards, Cameron Pilley, Greg Lobban, Karim Ali Fathi and Tesni Evans.

As 9th seed Tesni receives a bye into the second round, but in the first round Karim faces England’s Daryl Selby, Tom will compete in an all England match up against George Parker, whilst Greg and Cameron go head to head in an all Karakal encounter.

Glass court action will be staged in Drexel University’s Daskalakis Athletic Centre, while matches on the traditional side courts will also be held at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia. Matches from the glass court will be streamed live on SQUASHTV, Eurosport or the official PSA World Tour Facebook page.
